I think still plenty of people out there using Post-It notes to keep memo and reminders. I have been searching quite some time for Post-It equivalent free-ware but none really good enough, until I found “Stickies” from Zorn Software. Its a professionally written, fully packed features and yet FOC piece of software. You can download it from http://www.zhornsoftware.co.uk/stickies/download.html.
You can use this software to replace the conventional Post-It notes, and on top of that there’s plenty of functions such as :
- Use of different color for each individual notes
- Setup alarm notification
- Configure background transparency so that it will not be too obstructive
- Send the notes to your colleagues on the network (but they will need to have the same software)
- many many more, you can read it from the link above
And it can be environmental friendly too as no paper is being used, although I think 3M might not like the idea 
Go ahead, download it and give it a try, its a stable piece of software and in fact I intend to setup for my office PCs. Oh ya, its a free software and you can use it for both personal or commercial purpose.
